Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard is adamant that his team
can perform better than it did in Carabao cup clash with Manchester United on Wednesday.
According to the club website, Lampard said he hates losing
but that should not carry away his spirit in seeing the bigger picture for the
club’s future matches.
“I hate losing, but there is a big picture of great games
ahead of us… and that is our focus,” said Lampard.
He also said that his winning tactics will be based on his squad,
giving young upcoming and talented players priorities in the matches.
“We want to win matches and we want to give everything, but
that should come from a squad tha deserves minutes,” he added.
Though his squad lost to United, Lampard was certain of
the kind of play his boys delivered at Stamford Bridge.
“Though there was slow and limited passes exhibited in the
first half, the second half came in good, and we deserved our goal and even more,
before Rashford spoiled our party.”
The coach praised Mitchy Batshuayi for cancelling out Marcus
Rashford penalty, with a goal that increased his score sheet to 5 this season.
“He has been really good for us in terms of professionalism in
training.”
Marcus Rashford 73 minute free kick, from around 40 meters
flying past Chelsea keeper Willy Caballero, fired Manchester United into the
League Cup quarter-finals with a 2-1 victory.
Lampard said his team will be set with the expected return
of Nkolo Kate, who has been nursing injury, before the start of the international
break.
“Kante is expectd to be back in training, two to three days,
from injury, before the international break.”
