Trans Nzoia inter-county para-volley games scheduled for Saturday
April 17, 2020 have been postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
According to Trans Nzoia County chairman of the disabled Opis
Ojiambo, the games were scheduled to play at Kitale Polytechnic Grounds.
“The Kitale Polytechnic was the host for this year’s para-volley,
unfortunately we have to push to a further date following the current situation
in the country,” said Mr. Ojiambo.
The para-volley games were to be played for three days, with people
living with disability (PLWDs) from various counties taking part.
Mr. Ojiambo said the games have helped champion the talents
of PLWDs in the county.
“We always gather all people and encourage them to use their
talents in various ways and those able in sports,” he added.
The Trans Nzoia county team has produced a number of
international players like Lydia Imbezi, Roselyn Nyaga, Ronald Wenani and Opis
among others.

“We have produced the countries and international best
paravolley players. We call upon sports CS Ambassador Amina Mohamed to honour
also our team and also get something to boost the morale of our players.” said
Mr. Opis.
He also called for support from the county government, adding
that this will secure the livelihood of PLWDs in the county.
A number of sporting activities across the world have been
postponed, as countries try to fight the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
