Arsenal
Legend Thierry Henry is back in field –not as a player but a club manager.
The former
Arsenal striker has been appointed as the head coach of Montreal Impact,
a Canadian professional soccer
team based in Montreal, Quebec, on a two year contract.
The clubs
official stadia, where Thierry will be seen officially, is the Saputo/Olympic
Stadium in Montreal.
The 42-year-old
Frenchman spent two years as the assistant manager of Belgian national team.
In 2018,
after leaving Belgium the French International assumed a managerial role at his
former club Monaco, where he served until January 2019.
Thierry
remains Arsenal’s all-time leading scorer with 228 goals in all competitions he
appeared under Arsene Wenger.
He made his
professional debut with Monaco in 1994, and in 1998 he signed for defending
Serie A champions Juventus.
The striker
later joined Arsenal in 1999, signing a deal worth £11 million with the Premier League side.
Thierry made
the Premier League Golden Boot a record four times, winning two FA Cups and two
league titles at the club, including one unbeaten.
In 2003/2004,
Henry was the runner-up for the FIFA World Player of the Year and was named the
PFA Players’ Player of the Year twice, the FWA Footballer of the Year three
times and has also been named in the UEFA Team of the Year five times.
He spent his
final two seasons with Arsenal as club captain, leading them to the 2006 UEFA
Champions League Final.
