England
Champions Manchester City has lost an appeal against UEFA decision to the club
to its adjudicatory chamber over alleged Financial Fair Play (FFP).
This is
according to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruling delivered on Friday.
CAS said
that Manchester City had not exhausted the legal remedies available to it prior
to the appeal, adding that the club’s appeal was “inadmissible”.
The English
topflight reacted angrily when they were referred to the adjudicatory chamber
of UEFA’s club financial control body by its investigatory chamber in May 2019.
The
investigatory chamber had also recommended that City be sanctioned by UEFA.
The probe
comes as a result of leaked emails published last year by German magazine Der
Spiegel as part of “Football Leaks”, from the club.
The club
faces possible punishments ranging from suspension from the Champions League, a
transfer ban or a fine.
