Uasin Gishu Senator Prof. Margaret Kamar will be succeeding ousted
Kithure Kindiki in the highly contested Senate Deputy Speaker post.
This is after all the four contestants in the race pulled
out, leaving Kamar unopposed.
The four include Steward Madzayo (Kilifi –ODM), Charles
Kibiru (Kirinyaga – Independent), Isaac Mwaura (nominated – Jubilee), and
Judith Pareno (nominated –ODM).
Senator Kindiki was ousted after failing to attended the Parliamentary
Group meeting hosted by President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House a week ago.
The move seems to back up on Senate Majority whip Irungu
Kang’ata’s sentiments on Monday that Jubilee party supports women empowerment.
“However, Jubilee supports women empowerment. I endorse
Prof Margaret Kamar.” Said Senator Kang’ata.
Meanwhile, National Assemby Majority Leader Aden Duale has
survived the ongoing Jubilee party purge, which has seen the National Assembly
Majority Whip Benjamin Washiali and his deputy Cecily Mbarire ousted.

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday, the duo were replaced by Navakholo MP
Emmanuel Wangwe and Igembe North MP Maoka Maore respectively.
President Kenyatta also appointed Amos Kimunya to serve as
the Secretary of the Jubilee Coalition Joint Parliamentary Group.
About 212 Members of parliament attended, including Deputy
President Dr William Ruto who is also the Jubilee Coalition’s Deputy Party
Leader and Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju.
Jubilee party purge began with a reshuffle of Jubilee’s NEC
and trickled to the Senate where Senators Kipchumba Murkomen and Susan Kihika relieved
