Reply from immigration department to Miguna Miguna

Self-proclaimed National Resistance Movement leader Miguna
Miguna will jet back to the country on Tuesday January 7, 2020.

This follows a court order compelling the State to
facilitate the lawyer’s re-entry in the country based on his identification
through his national identity card or his withheld Kenyan passport.

In a statement issued by the Immigration Department on
Monday, Director of Immigration Alexander Muteshi said they will facilitate Dr
Miguna’s return back in the country.

“This is to confirm that in compliance with the court orders
issued on December 14, 2018, the directorate will facilitate Dr Miguna’s entry
into Kenya.”

Statement from Immigration department.

However, the lawyer faulted the Immigration department
saying that the statement is a hopeless move following high court orders.

“Patriots, ignore the statement by Alexander Muteshi. It is
their inept damage control after the High Court orders today,” said Miguna in a
twit.

Miguna also twitted earlier that he did not want any
preferential treatment.

“I want and demand all my rights and fundamental freedoms to
be respected. I want my valid Kenyan passport back. I want court orders to be
obeyed and complied with. I must enter Kenya unconditionally as a Kenyan,” he
said.

Government spokesman Col. Oguna confirmed that President
Uhuru Kenyatta made a pronouncement that Miguna is free to come back, and “that
is still the government’s position.”

Miguna was deported on March 29 2018, after swearing in
opposition leader Raila Odinga on Januray 31, as the people’s president.
