Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo has dismissed the fact that Political Parties Tribunal reversed an order seeking to expel Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa from ODM party over disloyalty.
Speaking on a local television’s breakfast show on Tuesday, the lawyer said he has not seen any order from the tribunal.
“Aisha Jumwa was expelled from ODM, and I have not seen the order from the Political parties Tribunal but what I know is that the Political Parties Tribunal cannot reverse the order of expulsion,” said Otiende.
Ms. Jumwa on Monday evening got a rebrieve after the political parties tribunal cancelled an order from ODM party seeking to expel her.
The MP also lashed at former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale for defending the embattled Malindi MP.
Handshake
“I would understand why you (Khalwale) are considerably irritated about Jumwa because you are in exactly that same position except your party has not found it necessary to move, perhaps, because you are not holding a political position,” said the lawyer.
Khalwale said Jumwa was only responding to the goodwill that was created by the spirit of handshake.
“What crime has Jumwa done? Jumwa responded to the goodwill that was created on March 9. Raila shook hands with the party leader of Jubilee,” said Mr. Khalwale.
The ODM party delegates on Friday voted to eject MP Aisha Jumwa, after the party’s National Governing Council ratified the party’s disciplinary committee decision to expel Ms Jumwa and her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori for gross misconduct.
Ms Jumwa was expelled from ODM while her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori was spared in the final decision, after submitting an apology to Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.
