Tongaren lawmaker, John Chikati and his counterpart Mbeere North Member of Parliament Geoffrey Ruku have expressed their massive disappointment with Treasury Cabinet Secretary, Njuguna Ndung’u, saying he is very much incompetent to run the office.
The two legislators who were speaking on Thursday, January 11, on Citizen TV, told Ndung’u to present his resignation letter and failure to do so, they will launch a motion of impeachment on him.
Why Kenya Kwanza MPs want Njuguna Ndung’u impeached
Ruku and Chikati both said that CS Ndung’u has proven that he can not implement President Ruto’s agenda something that has now given leaders affiliated with Azimio La Umoja laughter on the regime.
Chikati who is also the Secretary General of Ford Kenya Party, pointed out that CS Ndung’u has caused profound pain to students who leverage on bursaries to continue with their education.
He accused Ndung’u of causing a delay in the disbursement of the NG-CDF to facilitate bursaries to learners, saying he was intentionally dissatisfying the parliamentarians.
“We will impeach him very well, he is not performing. This is not the first time that Prof Ndung’u has done that. Last year it was a war between the Parliament and the Treasury before CDF was released,” he stated.
MPs demand release of CDF
He added that most county school students rely on the disbursement of bursaries and learners suffer anytime there is a delay.
“Students have reported to schools and there is no money and most of them have been sent home since 80% of county students depend on CDF for disbursement of bursaries. As far as people might want to blame the government, the Ministry heads must take responsibility,” he said.
Chikati when concluding said that Prof Ndung’u’s more than one year tenure has nothing commendable.
“There is no communication between him and MPs on the CDF delay, which tells you about rudeness, lack of planning and communication, CS Ndung’u knows very well that in January students normally open up, he is so erratic, he speaks very well English and economic jargon instead of practical actionable steps.”
Mbeere North legislator on his side called CS Ndung’u, a “crybaby”, saying he is absent of substantial management skills, something which will make President Ruto not achieve his goals.
He said Prof Ndung’u is quick in telling the electorates about the economic crisis rather than giving solutions.
” If Treasury CS Prof Njuguna Ndung’u is unable to do his job, he should resign because one of his key roles as a CS Treasury is liability management of the country. We will not allow him to fail the President,” he highlighted.
