Kisumu County speaker Onyango Oloo has said he will appeal
the decision by the Labour Relations Court to uphold his impeachment.
The court ruled on Tuesday that the governor should
immediately release the official county vehicle to the acting Speaker Elisha
Oraro.
Justice Nduma Nderi said the Employment and Labour Relations
Court stood by the ‘Hansard’ report that indicated 42 members of county
assembly voted out Oloo on allegations of corruption.
Oloo accused Justice Nderi of failing to address the
critical issues in his petition, which touched on the procedures followed and
the county assembly threshold.
The speaker is linked to the Sh2.5 billion Lake Basin Mall
scandal, whose investigations are ongoing.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission began probing the
saga in July 2015, after complaints were raised over the inflated cost of
construction.
The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji said directors
of Erdemann Properties Ltd gave Speaker Oloo, who then chaired the Lake Basin
Development Authority (LBDA) board, , Sh17 million, apartments and shops in
bribes.
