Kiambu County Governor Kimani Wamatangi has sternly urged leaders in the area to support development instead of conspiring to undermine his efforts to improve the lives of the electorate in Kiambu.
Speaking on Friday, January 19 in Kerwa Sigona Ward, Kikuyu Sub-county, where he was giving out certified maize seeds and fertilizer to more than 5,000 agriculturalists, the Governor stated that the use of dirty tricks in politics should be a thing of the past and politicians must embrace politics of maturity and tolerance.
Wamatangi looked infuriated with some local leaders who he claimed had been using all means to derail his development tours, asking them to excuse themselves in any of his county touring.
” Kutoka leo kama mtu hana haja na mkutano wangu kaa mbali , kama ni siasa subiri 2027, Leo ni mambo ya maendeleo, ” He pointed out .
On several occasions, the Governor has tasted the bitterness of a section of MCAs and MPs who are both questioning his integrity and seeking to impeach him with the main reason being he deliberately declined the appointment of County Executive Committee Officers and constituted an all-inclusive Cabinet.
In November last year, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua called for cooperation between the Governor and the MCAs, in a meeting he chaired.
“The Ruto administration roots for a strong devolution, and therefore, we have no room for squabbles that will derail service delivery to the people.”
He also highlighted that for devolution to work, the executive and legislative branches of the County Government must bow to collaboration.
The Deputy President will engage Kimani Wamatangi, MCAs and MPs in the County Government of Kiambu in a meeting to handle the push and pull among them.
On August 30, 2023, a bursary disbursement event in Ruiru Constituency in the presence of Governor Wamatangi, turned ugly after a disorder emerged something that called for police intervention following demands to be included in the list of beneficiaries.
In church function in PCEA Membely, Gitochua Ward, the same played out with MCAs alleging that Wamatangi was an autocratic leader mismanaging county affairs.
