Siaya Senator James Orengo has said that the opposition is outside the government and does not know anything anything happening.

Speaking on Wednesday interview with KTN, Orengo said that they (the opposition) are not responsible for things that happen in government.

“We are outside the government, we are not responsible for a lot if things that happen in government.” said Mr.Orengo.

Recent political pressure has been piled to opposition leader Raila Odinga, following the famous ‘handshake’ with President Uhuru in March last year.

A section of the ruling party (Jubilee) leaders, allied to DP Ruto, have accused the handshake saying it was a political plan instigated to divide the party.

They claim anything that the president is doing now is against the interest of their leader (Ruto), shifting the blame to Mr. Raila.

Asked to respond to corruption cases in the country and how they are handled by the judiciary, the senator blamed the investigation agencies in Kenya.

The senator referred to the Chicken gate scandal where, the UK government jailed those responsible while in Kenya, they were left free of charge in the spirit of ‘lacking evidence.’

He added that in Kenya, the executive has much influence to the judiciary and that should be stopped.

“The executive should not interfere with the judiciary, however poorly they are doing.” he added.

Handshake

Orengo maintained that the handshake ‘was not an event’ but a journey that will see both leaders moving around the whole country uniting it.

He said that the president welcomed the handshake to help him steer his big four agenda and stop corruption, which was thriving everyday in his government.

“President Uhuru realized that corruption was going to become cancerous and could even bring down his government.” he said.
