Nyamira County Governor John Nyagarama has set new measures
to residents, a day after Coronavirus case was reported in the neighbouring
Kisii.
The county boss on Wednesday released 100 litres holding
capacity water tanks to 20 wards, urging residents to wash their hands with
clan running water, soap and keep social distance as directed by the ministry
of health.
The Governor said the water holding tanks will be placed public
places such as hospitals and markets, in an effort levelled at confronting the
could-be cases of covid-19 pandemic.
In a statement read on his behalf by the Environment and
Water Executive Committee Member Samwel Maiko, the governor disclosed that
under his leadership, Nyamira County is not leaving anything to chance.
“I want to
assure my constituents that we are fully prepared and ready to keep this
pandemic at bay,” read the statement in part.

Governor Nyagarama added that it is worth noting that a
number of residents have embraced the health basics as directed by government and
have kept adhering to the Ministry of health guidelines and hygiene protocols.
He added that his administration is on high alert, with no
homegrown COVID-19 case having been reported in the County.
The governor also called on members to be observant of the
measures set, discouraging inter-county movements to limit the risk of
contracting the virus.
Coronavirus cases in the country have increased to 179,
after today’s report showed 7 new reported cases in the last 24-hours.
