Trans Nzoia county launches disinfectant booth

Trans Nzoia Deputy Governor Stanley Kemei together with the
health executive Ms. Claire Namenge on Friday 5th June launched a
disinfectant booth at the entrance at the county market Municipal Market in
Kitale Town in the bid to protect the market users against the novel corona
virus.

The booth which was donated by Super Loaf of Mini Bakeries
company was build to aid the market which serves a larger number of vendors
across the county after a number of open-air markets were closed.

“The aim of the booth was to various sectors in the county
continue running so that the county’s economy is not completely affected by the
situation currently in the county and Business persons in the county to also go
about their business.” Said Paul Ojiambo the manger sales of Mini Bakeries Rift
Valley.

The booth which has water and sanitizer at the entrance for
hand washing and the going through where the machine sprays one to disinfect
their clothes after being done of the day activities.

“At the entrance just as the health ministry advised to have
water and soaps after the shops where we have placed and donated tanks for
water to the market chairperson. One then goes through the booth where they are
sprayed the whole body.” He further explained.

The County Health CEC Ms. Claire Namenge retaliating the
collective efforts needed and the adherence to the measures stated on the daily
briefings of the health ministry.

 “This is a sign that
the business community of Trans Nzoia has the interests of its customers at
heart to come and build this booth to support the county in fighting COVID-19.
Despite that the war against the virus is a joint effort, putting into practice
the measures that we all are taking for granted. Putting masks correctly and
washing hands we will be able to win then fight.” She said.

With the county still not yet to record any positive case,
leaders did not hesitate to continue to protect themselves against the virus by
following the measures to latter.

“We are grateful as the county to the gesture by Mini
Bakeries to protecting our residents by building this important facility here,
we should make use of it avoid the virus from reaching our county.” Said deputy
Governor Stanley Kemei.

He further added the readiness of the county government to
support those small business persons who are producing the masks and urged the
people to continue producing the personal protective equipment for the
residents to generate income for them.

“As a county we going to promote and support the residents
registered and those not will be given the allowance to producing the masks in
the county to serve all the people of Trans Nzoia so that the revenue remains
in the county.” He added.

The deputy governor also commended the innovative efforts by
the youth during this time in provision of equipment that could further boost
the fight of the novel virus that has affected the world.

“Our youth at the Juakali sector have also been at the
forefront to innovate equipment that will help in the fight against the virus
which is will receive support from the county, we are going to support and
promote them,” added the Deputy Governor.

The governor confirming the efforts made by the county
government in which they donated food to 600 and 500 family’s food on the past
two Sundays respectively and flood victims receiving the donations made by the
Cabinet Secretary of devolution and special programmes Eugene Wamalwa.
