Thika Town Constituency has emerged the
top performing constituency in Promoter Recognition for Constituency
Development Fund Financial Statements.

The constituency Member of Parliament,
Hon. Jungle Patrick Wainaina on Friday led his team to pick the award from the
Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) in this year’s
Financial Reporting (FiRe) awards held in Carnivore Nairobi.

The MP said the journey has not been
easy and thanked his National government constituency development fund (NG-CDF)
committee for making it a reality.

“Leading among 290 Constituencies to
bag the award means a job well done. However this comes with commitments and above
all being honesty with the funds that we manage,” he said.

Wainaina thanked the constituents for
the cooperation they offer saying that their contributions played a big role.

“This is a great achievement for Thika Town
constituency residents and I will endeavor to maintain this exemplary
performance,” he said.

The FiRe Award recognizes institutions
from both the public and private sectors for excellence in financial reporting,
fostering sound corporate governance practices, enhancing corporate social
investment and environmental reporting, to enhanced accountability,
transparency and integrity.

The 2019 FiRE awards theme was
‘Enhancing Corporate Value through Excellence in Financial Reporting for
Cross-Border Trade and Investment Facilitation in East Africa and beyond’.

The award is jointly promoted by
Public-Sector Accounting Standards Board-Kenya (PSASB), the Capital Markets
Authority (CMA), the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya
(ICPAK), and the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).
