A few days after the telecommunication company Safaricom
announced making Ksh63.4billions of profit, its current Chief Executive Officer
Bob Collymore has been appointed to hold a position in a parastatal.
Collymore has been named as one of the board members of the National
Cancer Institute in a gazette notice. This comes a few months before the
successful CEO leaves Safaricom.
The notice read, “In exercise of the powers conferred by Section
6(2) of the Cancer Prevention and Control Act (2012) the Cabinet Secretary
(Sicily Kariuki) appoints David Makumi, Mercy Oburu, Bob Collymore, and Evangeline
Njiru as board members of the National Cancer Institute.”
Collymore and Oburu are cancer survivors. Oburu is the
Digital Content Manager at Royal Media Services.
