The Nurses strike that was scheduled to begin on Monday 18,
2020 has been suspended.
Nurses’ Union Secretary General Seth Panyako has said that the
strike will not go on as planned for the next 21 days, to pave way for dialogue
with the government.
Nurses had threatened to down their tools over what they
term as lack of protecting gears during this Covid-19 period and bridge of the
Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Health CAS Dr. Mercy Mwangangi said on Thursday that the
government was in talks the union to reach to an agreement following the grievances
nurses had raised.
Dr. Mwangangi also pointed out that among the issues raised
by nurses is lack of enough PPEs and the government was looking into that.
