BUSIA, Kenya – A group of youthful Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders have this Sunday, August 31, 2025 pitched a tent in Funyula, Busia County where they held an empowerment program for the youths.
The leaders included ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, MPs Caleb Amisi (Saboti), Ojiambo Oundo (Funyula), Babu Owino (Embakasi East), Joshua Kimilu (Kaiti), Antony Kibagendi (Kitutu Chache South), Obadiah Barongo (Bomachoge Borabu), Jack Wamboka (Bumula), Clive Gisano (Kitutu Masaba) and Gathoni Wamuchomba (Githunguri).

Amisi who shot the first salvo vowed to mobilise his colleagues in efforts to scuttle the rosy working relationship between President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga under the broad-based government that has created sharp divisions within the Orange party.
“We are working round the clock to ensure that we break the bond between President Ruto and Raila Odinga. We don’t want Raila to be part of the president’s failures,” said Amisi.
Caleb, serving his third term in office under the ODM party said the movement seeks to stop Raila from President Ruto.
“There is no way they can be on the same page of the history book. That one cannot happen. We want to tell those people who are lying to Raila that all is well to stop it because we are more ODM than them,” added Amisi.
Why the ODM MPs are not playing the third fiddle
Amisi further said that he and his colleagues were elected in ODM in what he termed a very bad environment.
“We are serving in ODM but with a lot of pain because these people are destroying the legacy of Raila. That is not the Raila that we know. Raila stands for the right thing and we are telling them that very soon, that Raila will leave them,” he insisted.
He further dismissed claims that the group is a third force ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Some people have started claiming that us the leaders who are here today are the third force but I want to make it clear that this is the only force ahead of the 2027 elections. So, you can better refer to us as the Kenya Air Force One. From today, the issue of third force ends here in Funyula,” said Amisi.
What Caleb Amisi told the Kenyan youth
He also used the occasion to appeal to the Kenyan youth to rally behind the newly-formed movement.
“We may be young leaders but we have the experience that is why Kenyans are always electing and supporting us. As young leaders, we want to tell the youth of this country that we launched this movement in Saboti where we held an empowerment program for women and today this is our second public meeting,” explained Amisi.
The vocal lawmaker maintained that a nation cannot develop without the charisma, enthusiasm, innovation and the energy of the young people.
“We don’t want the experience of engaging in corruption. All we don’t want is the experience of conning Kenyans through SHA. We don’t want the experience of tribalism or of forming tribal cocoons. We also don’t want the experience of building affordable houses. We also don’t want the experience of killing Gen Zs. And so, since Ruto has failed to sack his corrupt friends in government, we are going to do so on his behalf,” the MP stated.
