The Nairobi Women’s Hospital College has condemned the actions of a woman seen in a video harassing a healthcare worker at Port Victoria Hospital.

This comes after it emerged that the woman in the video goes by the name Vanesa Ogema and is a student at the college enrolled in the Theatre Technology program awaiting graduation.

In a statement, the college said,

“We strongly condemn the regrettable actions displayed by Ms. Vanessa. These actions do not align with the values and standards we uphold at NWHC. As an organization, we are committed to nurturing compassionate and responsible professionals.”

The college apologized for the incident saying it would take action.

“To address this matter, we have initiated an internal investigation to gather all relevant information and will institute appropriate measures in line with our institution’s policies and procedures. We extend our sincere apologies to the affected hospital and their staff for any inconvenience caused by Ms. Vanessa.”

In a video seen by News9, a woman is seen angrily addressing a healthcare worker at the Port Victoria Hospital demanding preferential treatment of a patient she brought in.

She is with a male companion standing by and threatens to call a certain cabinet secretary in the government on the issue. The woman is also seen throwing things off the table and kicking items on the floor at the hospital.

The cabinet secretary mentioned in the video, KMPDU, and nurses in the country have come out to condemn the actions of Ms. Vanessa.

Health CS Susan Nakhumicha also chimed in on the issue saying an investigation will be launched into the incident adding that she ‘would not allow healthcare workers to be disrespected.

The video caused an uproar from Kenyans on social media, asking for actions to be taken against the woman involved.
