A 10-year-old boy is among four people nursing injuries at Mtwapa hospital Kilifi, after they were shot by police on Tuesday.
This comes after residence of Mtwapa Luxury were involved in a battle with police, following a forceful eviction from the area.
Reports show that a private developer colluded with the police to have residents evicted from the 2-acre piece of land.
Residents said that an area Member of County Assembly who had organized the protest against the brutal eviction has been detained at the Mtwapa Police Station.
They claim to have occupied the piece of land for over 50 years.
A business man had issued an order to have residents evicted from the piece of land.
This comes a week after a private developer demolished houses that forced more than 200 Shariani villagers in Kilifi South to spent night in the cold.
Kilifi Deputy Governor Gideon Saburi urged the National Land Commission to take the issue at hand seriously and verify land documents by developers before a confirmation from the county government.
“We are calling upon the National Land Commission and the Ministry of Lands to stop entertaining private developers by giving them documents for land without verifying with the county government,” said Saburi.
The governor added that Counties are trustee to any land within its borders.
