Land registry offices at Ardhi House will close temporarily to
pave way for the auditing of records.
In a notice to the public, Lands Cabinet Secretary Farida
Karoney said the temporary closure will take effect from Monday February 24, to
Friday March 13.
“This is therefore, to notify the general public that, both
the Nairobi and Central Registries, including the records registry and the
banking hall will be closed as from Monday February 24…,” read part of the
notice.
CS Karoney added that during the closure period, all
services offered at Ardhi House Nairobi will not be available.
However, the ministry confirmed that all land registries
across the country will remain operational during the period.
“Normal business shall resume on Monday March 16, and the we
(the ministry) sincerely apologizes for any inconveniences caused,” said the
CS.
The Ministry of Lads and Physical Planning is charged with
the responsibility of facilitating transparent, accountable, and efficient land
administration and management.
In 2014, the ministry also conducted record auditing at
Ardhi House, shutting its registries for a period of two weeks.
The exercise saw more than one million files that were missing or
misplaced at the lands registry recovered.
