Communities living along the border have been urged to remain
vigilant and practice ‘Nymba Kumi’ policing, even as Covid-19 cases rise to
758.

Speaking on Thursday, Health CAS Dr. Mercy Mwangangi said
the country’s porous borders are now high-risk areas in the transmission of the
coronavirus.

Out of the 21 positive cases recorded in the last 24 hours,
7 are from the Namanga border in Kajiado and one from the Isibania border in
Migori County.

“We appeal to communities living within and around boarder
counties to actively exercise the ‘Nyumba Kumi’ community policing. We should
be vigilant and report individuals using ‘Panya routes’ to get into the
country,” said CAS Mwangangi.

The government tested 1, 486 samples in the last 24 hours,
bringing the total number of tests to 36, 918 samples

The new cases involve patients aged between seven years and
79 years. 14 of these were male and seven were female.

12 of the cases are from Mombasa, four each from Nairobi and
Kajiado while one from Uasin Gishu County.

In Mombasa, Likoni area has 5, Mvita (4), Jomvu (2) and
Nyali (1).

In Kajiado, three of the cases are from the Namanga border
and one from Loitoktok.

In Nairobi, the cases are two each from Eastleigh and Kibra
while the case from Uasin Gishu is from Turbo.

The government record two more deaths from the disease
raising the total fatalities in the country to 42.

Meanwhile, three more patients have been discharged bringing
to 284 the total number of Kenya’s recoveries.
