As the world continues to fight the deadly Covid-19 virus,
Kenya has recorded a new high of 123 infections.
The 123 new cases were identified from 3,077 samples tested
in the last 24hours. 78 are male and 45 are female. Nairobi County takes the
lead with 85 new Coronavirus cases followed by Mombasa with 24.
During the daily briefings from the Ministry of Health,
Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe expressed worry about the virus spreading in the
informal settlements in Nairobi, urging residents to remain vigilant in the
fight against Covid-19. There are 33 new cases in Mathare, 14 in Kibera, and 12
in Embakasi West.
Three more people have lost their lives to Coronavirus bringing
the death toll in the country to 55. Two of them were suffering from diabetes
while one had breast cancer. However, seven patients are in critical condition
and four on ventilator support.
Responding to corruption claims in the health ministry, Kagwe
explained that most of the employees under him are hardworking and
professional, except a few people who are engaging in unscrupulous activity such
as offering fake tenders with the logo of the ministry, adding that they will
be dealt with accordingly.
