As the world continues to fight the deadly Coronavirus,
Cabinet Secretary for Health Mutahi Kagwe has delivered an update about the
disease in Kenya.

In an afternoon press briefing, the secretary revealed that
Kenya has 9 new cases of Coronavirus, with 7 of them being Kenyans while the
remaining two are foreigners.

This brings the total number of Coronavirus cases in Kenya to 25,
from yesterday’s 16 cases. Coronavirus cases currently afflict four counties
namely Nairobi, Kilifi, Kwale, and Mombasa.

Kagwe also stated that Billionaire Jack Ma has donated 25,000
testing kits to Kenya to help deal with the pandemic in the country. He continued
to applaud the international and national support that the government has received,
thanking the public for providing hand washing spots and the matatu sector operators
for offering hand sanitizers to curb the spread of Coronavirus.

The secretary also added that the government will use local
production to supplement the protective gear the international community is
offering. He continued to reveal that further measures will be announced
tomorrow in efforts to deal with the Corona pandemic in Kenya.

In the press briefing, KEMRI explained that they have a
capacity of 360 samples per day, and intend to increase it to 45 samples per
45minutes.
