The Kenyan government has appointed Retired Colonel Cyrus
Oguna as the new government spokesperson.
According to a statement from the ICT Cabinet secretary Joe
Mucheru, Oguna takes over from Eric Kiraithe immediately.
It read in part, “In line with directions from the Executive
Office of the President through the Head of Public Service, the office of the
Government Spokesman shall be domiciled at the Ministry of Information, Communication
and Technology.”
Oguna was the spokesman for the Kenya Defense Forces a while
back when KDF was deployed in Somalia. Kiraithe served as the Kenya Police
Spokesman and Chief of Security at Kenya Airports Authority before landing a
job at state house as the Government Spokesman.
