Kisii
Governor James Ongwae is currently under fire for allegedly ordering the arrest
of an upcoming rapper who released a hit song criticizing his regime.
Smallz
Lethal claims he was arrested by investigation officers and released after
interrogation on defamation character touching a public figure.
In his Song
titled “AM OFFENDED,” he directly mentions Governor James Ongwae
claiming he is too corrupt with ghost promises to the electorate.
“I am
well fam. Got arrested and released after hours of interrogation on Defamation
of Character claims against I don’t know who. I was told ‘mkubwa amekasirika’,”
Lethal said.
Lethal Says
the masters want the ‘on fire’ hit rap to be deleted from YouTube for they will
reimburse all the expenses used in recording and shooting the song.
“In
short, they want the video deleted from YouTube & as they say, they will
reimburse the amount used for the project. We will not be intimidated to bring
the video down,” He said.
On Monday
evening, Kisii residents led by Musicians threatened to move to the streets to
condemn the indecent arrest. They termed it as unethical and demining the
upcoming talents.
South
Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro who is also a lawyer initiated his release by
pinning them down to a no criminal element.
Osoro directly
told the Governor to keep off young talents. He had issued an ultimatum for his
release but luckily they succumbed to pressure.
“The
County Government has been promising artists year in year out. The Governor
lies to them I will do this and this for you. Too much PR since 2013. This is
wrong and unethical. If this intimidation continues, the demonstration we will
do, we will not allow. Let this be the last time you are doing this,”
Warned Osoro.
