The popular Nigerian singer Davido is set to perform in Kenya at Raha Fest, which will be held at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi from Saturday, March 30 to Sunday, March 31.

David is known for his popular songs like Unavailable, Dream Girl, and Jowo. He was also among the artists nominated for the 66th Grammy Award in the newly created category of Best African Music Performance.

His song featuring Musa Keys Unavailable was nominated, along with Water by Tyla from South Africa. Other Nigerian talents in the category included Burna Boy with his song City Boys, Ayra Starr with Rush, and Asake and Olamide with Amapiano.

Tyla won the award with her song Water, whose popularity grew to international levels with Former US President Barrack Obama terming it one of his favorite tracks of the year 2023. Davido congratulated Tyla on her win through social media.

Fans can buy Raha Fest tickets on Ticketsasa or TicketYetu with regular tickets costing Ksh 6,000, VIP Ksh 12,000, and VVIP Ksh 30,000.

What is Raha Fest?

Raha Fest is a thrilling event that brings together people from different backgrounds to celebrate the richness and diversity of African music, art, and culture. It invites artists and fashion designers from across Africa to showcase their talent and connect.

Kenyan artists set to perform at the event include Nadia Mukami, H_Art the Band, Bensoul, and Nviiri the Storyteller.

Apart from Davido, other music talents from outside Kenya will be present, including Afrobeat’s King Promise from Ghana and Amapiano star Musa Keys from South Africa.

Ticket pricing

As this happens, attention has been drawn to ticket prices with a section of Kenyans arguing why Kenyan artists do not get the same treatment as musicians from outside the country when it comes to ticket pricing.

When Congolese Rhumba star Koffi Olomide performed in Kenya on December 9, 2023, tickets were going at Ksh 6,000 and Ksh 7,500 at the gate with VIP tickets costing Ksh 25,000.

Nonetheless, the Kenyan boy band Sauti Sol’s final Sol Fest show held at the end of 2023 sold out and ticket prices cost Ksh 3,500 for regular and Ksh 20,000 for VIP. Some Kenyans were surprised that the concert was sold out despite the ticket prices which some may consider high.
