Gospel singer Christina Shusho plans to have a concert in Kenya this December after trending on X platform (formerly Twitter), with some users on the platform accusing her of plagiarism.
Shusho broke her silence through her X account saying, “Due to increasing demands for a concert in Kenya, my team and I are working with Mwalimu Churchill to have a concert on December 31, 2023.”
Shusho has been on the receiving end of negative comments on X, with some users accusing her of plagiarism, where she uses Biblical scriptures word for word in her songs.
The song in question on X was Shusha Nyavu, which talks about the story of Jesus and Peter catching a huge amount of fish after catching nothing all night.
However, the singer’s diehard fans defended her saying gospel music is about the scripture, adding that her songs are uplifting.
Commenting on the issue on Classic FM’s breakfast show, renowned radio presenter Maina Kageni chimed in on the issue saying, “ Shusho, you know me I love you.”
Kageni noted that he likes playing Shusho’s music, while happily reacting to the beats and lyrics.
Shusho’s music is popular in Kenya even though she is from Tanzania. Her other popular songs include Ning’are, Relax, and Teta Nao.
