Kenya’s law enforcement officials have urged business owners to work with the authorities to help tackle security challenges, emphasizing a customer-oriented approach to meet the evolving needs of the business sector.

Speaking during a prayer meeting convened on Friday, February 9 in Nairobi where hundreds of senior police officers congregated, the Regional Commander of Nairobi Adamson Bungei underscored the commitment of the police to addressing business security concerns promptly.

“We have adopted a need-based approach to address security challenges. Engaging with customers enables us to tailor solutions to their specific needs, ensuring a conducive environment for all stakeholders,” stated Bungei, emphasizing the police force’s adaptability to emerging security dynamics.

Bungei highlighted that enhancing security not only safeguards individuals but also significantly impacts business operations – especially those in hospitality, citing accolades such as Nairobi’s recognition as Africa’s leading business travel destination and one of the world’s top cities to visit in 2024, as per rankings from TripAdvisor and Lonely Planet.

In areas identified as vulnerable to insecurity, Bungei affirmed proactive measures will be taken, including increased police presence and collaboration with private security firms, to fortify security frameworks and mitigate risks effectively.

On his part, Director of Operations and Business Development at PrideInn Hotels, Resorts, and Camps Jackton Amutala echoed Bungei’s sentiments, emphasizing the vital role of enhanced security in driving the hospitality industry’s success in Nairobi.

“Improved collaboration between the hospitality sector and law enforcement has yielded tangible security enhancements within Nairobi’s hotels, attracting a surge in local and international business,” remarked Amutala.

“We thank the police for their efforts, especially the newly introduced squad called ‘The Sword’, who go around the hotels just to ensure that all visitors feel secure within the establishments.”

Amutala emphasized the symbiotic relationship between security and business prosperity, asserting that Nairobi’s emergence as a safe destination underscores the collective achievements of law enforcement agencies and the hospitality sector.

He emphasized that sustained efforts in enhancing security measures have propelled Nairobi’s hospitality industry to unprecedented heights, positioning it as a premier destination for MICE and business travelers globally.

The prayer meeting was a thanksgiving service marking the beginning of 2024.
