Ever thought of why you keep
sending that CV to different organizations yet there is no response.

This
might be because of a simple omission one makes on the curriculum
vitae, about personal responsibility.

Personal
responsibility can be looked at as the idea that human beings choose
to instigate, or otherwise cause their own actions.

Employers
tend to look for individuals who take note of their personal
responsibilities, as suitable candidates desired for the defined
career.

They
understand that people who take charge of their actions and accept
them will definitely do the same to their work role, while those who
laze around will end up messing with team spirit at work place.

According
to MindTools, people may become irresponsibly as a result of
laziness, fear of failure and being overwhelmed by the scale of a
problem or a situation they are in.

Therefore,
an employer will look for this kind of recipe in your resume or via
short interview questions that can determine whether you are
responsible or not.

Conover
writes that responsible employees understand that they are in full
control of themselves. They not only take credit for successes but
also take responsibility for their failures.

Employment
opportunities in Kenya have proved limited owing to the increased
number of graduates, who end up settling for non-formal jobs that
demands skills way down their qualifications

In
this regard, employers have resorted to looking at not only your
academic qualifications, but also what you can do as an individual
–which can be carried to your working environment.

How
employers identify responsible persons

Employers
look at your resume and identify one bit that may prove you are
personally responsible. Some of the things that define your level of
responsibility include,

Set
goals

Do
you have measurable, reasonable and time-bound goals in your life and
professional experience?

Achievement
drive

If
you have well-set goals, how ready are you to achieve them, do you
need extra time/research to handle? If your goals are simple, and do
not need further study, they won’t define your responsibility.

Positive
thoughts

Do
you have a positive mind about the career you are seeking?

Self-control

How
well are you in managing yourself in terms of feelings and other
people’s reactions.

Having
all these features well centered will put you in the best ranking to
employment opportunities.
