Wazito FC have come to the Premier division with new hope and zeal to spearhead football talent in the country.

Having reshuffled its management, the club anticipates maintaining their play in the top tier league, starting its own academy that will nature and mould own talent.

But the question remains, will former Mount Kenya United coach Melis Medo stick to their lane of expectations?

Medo has had a vast experience in football coaching, starting from Brooklyn Italians which also represent A.S Roma in New York, to New York Red Bulls in US. He also coached in Qatar before landing a job in Kenya.

The American-Egyptian coaching career in Kenya begun in 2018 where he lead Mt. Kenya and later moved to Sofapaka at the start of 2018/19 season, before returning to Mt. Kenya where he left at the end of the season, which saw the team relegated.

Based on his attacking tactics and talent nurturing, Medo could form a perfect team to the expectations of Wazito FC.

He will be assisted by Hamisi Mohamed as the assistant manager, after Fred Ambani was fired over a series of inconsistent performance from previous games.

“I want to thank the club management for believing in me. I will do my best here to ensure that the team is successful. I understand the club’s philosophy and vision and I will work closely with everyone in the team to ensure that we succeed. I am excited about this new challenge and I promise to give my best,” Medo said.

Club CEO Dennis Gicheru hailed Mr.Medo, saying that the club has full confidence in him, and the management will accord him all the necessary support to ensure that he is successful.

“After careful consideration, we settled on Melis Medo. He is a quality coach and having coached Kenyan Premier League teams before he understands Kenyan football well and we have full confidence in him. We believe that he will do a good job with the team. He will be accorded all the necessary support to ensure that he succeeds here,” Gicheru said.
