The meaning of Beyonce and Jay Z's twin names'-Rumi and Sir Carter

It is a month now since Beyonce and Jay Z announced the birth of their new born babies, Rumi and Sir Carter.

According to a report by TMZ , the names as registered in legal documents, are trademarks for fragrances, cosmetics, key chains, baby teething rings, strollers, mugs, water bottles, hair ribbons, playing cards, tote bags, sports balls, rattles and novelty items', they state.

But what exactly do they mean? And what influence will they have on their future lives?

The Mirror states that, Rumi appears to be an homage to a 13th century Sunni Muslim poet of the same name, Jalauddin Rumi. He is world-renowned for his spiritual legacy which has lasted for centuries.

The name also derives from the Greek word for 'Romans' and makes subtle reference to the Roman Empire. In fact, to this day the city of Rome is known in modern Arabic as R?m?.

According to website Behind The Name, Sir is the Catalan form of Syrus, or Cyrus, which means 'throne'.

The names might also be religiously driven.
