A day after Nairobi County Governor Evans Kidero ordered a probe into cholera outbreak at Weston hotel last week, a 15-member task force team meet on Tuesday 27 to spearhead the investigation.

The meeting was attended by health experts and representatives from the County Government, Ministry of Health, Nairobi Water and Sewerage, Kenya Red Cross among others.

According to the County health executive Benard Muia, the task force is tasked to oversee the cause of the outbreak.

The hotel management maintains that the outbreak is as a result of outsourced food, which affected over 30 people after having lunch in the hotel.

Political influence

The Director of Medical Service Jack Kioko on Saturday, refused to give scheduled update on the outbreak, after report from hospitals claimed that 11 victims had serious contracted the disease.

The victims are guests who were attending an international health conference which ended on Friday.

Ministry of Health officials have been implicated over what appears to be a political influence to cover up the outbreak, following claims that the hotel belongs to Deputy President William Ruto.
