Revealed: Why Mashemeji derby ended in a 1-1 draw

The 85th Mashemeji derby finally went down at Nyayo national stadium on 27th Sunday August 2017.

The Inglo-Dala Derby recorded a 1-1 draw full-time of the play off. 

Gor Mahia defender and who double up as the captain Musa Mohammed put the Ingwe on the lead with an own goal after tapping a cross short from Ndung'u and netting the ball past K'ogalo gate keeper Olouch.

However the celebration and the lead was cut off at the 35th minute of the game when Meddie Kagere gave Gor an equaliser goal and the final celebration of the game.

Gor had a higher advantage into the game with a five game unbeaten run and at the summit of the table against there arch-rivals AFC who have only two win in there last five games.

Though in a surprise move the Ingwe were on a higher running spree in the early minutes of the game but in futility there effort was occasionally thwarted by tactical defensive from Gor defenders. 

After the Sunday afternoon clash Gor Mahia still maintain a lead at the Kenya premier table with 44 points and 21games while AFC is at 13th place on the table with 24 points 

Today draw still massage leopards ego as they are still the favourite of the derby with a clean 28 games win against Gor with 26 game win but which upscale the draw record to 31 games
