Taita man surrenders himself to authorities after brutal murder of his two sons

A middle aged man has surrendered himself to the hands of the police after he allegedly killed his two children in cold blood in Taita Taveta county.

County police commander Fred Ochieng confirmed the deaths of the deceased and identified them as Gabriel Mutuku, 8 years and Everton Paul Kalii, 5 years.

The deceased bodies were found lying on the floor by their mother with visible injuries inflicted on their necks and their bodies at a rented house at Njukini trading centre in Taveta sub county.

The mother to the deceased children, Gladys Muthoni, 28 years old told the police that she had a domestic brawl with her husband, Charles Mutuku Kalii,33, on the night of Tuesday.

Gladys escaped and spent a night at her neighbour's house and when she returned home in the morning of Wednesday she found the door of the house locked with a latch. She opened the door and upon entry she was shocked to find her children dead and in a pool of blood- their bodies covered with a mattress.

Ochieng confirmed the arrest of the man and said that the suspect has been held at the police custody. Ochieng said that Mutuku surrendered himself to the Chumvini Police Patrol base after the heinous act.

The bodies of the two have been taken to the Taveta Sub county hospital and investigations have been launched.
